Starting Problems
Good day, I’m looking for some advice. I have a 2003 F350 7.3 Powerstroke. Typically I have no issues with it starting up. Occasionally when I shut off the motor and try to start it within 5-10 Min it will not start. I have to wait for 15-20 min and then it will start right up. This doesn’t happen all the time. There is no pattern that I can see. Any advice on where to look would be appreciated.

Likely culprits are IPR valve or ICP sensor, both are major players in the HPO system. I'd start with the IPR tin nut and wiring pigtail. Nut should be snug not tight, maybe 1/8 turn past finger tight. Then check harness for cuts or soft spots in insulation. The next time it acts up try unplugging the ICP, it puts the PCM into a default setting so if sensor is bad the truck will start. I'd also look for a diagnostics tool. Forscan is the best low buck option I've heard.
