alright guys, ive tried everything, no matter what the cost, no matter how complex, i want my 300 inline 6 to sound good and be loud enough to rattle windows, i love the engine, id just do anythign for it to sound as good as it is, mine is an efi 300 6 in a 1990 f250 someones gotta know what to do
Exhaust components for the straight six are hard to come by. Have you posted this into the inline six forum as well? Loud enough to rattle windows?? I dont know if that is going to happen. The exhaust note probably isnt comperable to a big block V8 (I dont know this, I have never heard the 300). What does your current exhaust setup look like?
Cut the cats off, there should be two pipes coming off your manifold, weld on 1.5" pipe to each one of them and run them all the way back to by your gass tank then split themand run one out the back on each side of your box, on the end habe 1 6" chrome tip on each pipe and you WILL rattle windows (had one and it was the loudest exhaust i have ever heard in my whole life) it is pretty high pitched at high RPMS but it sounds fairly decent at about 1.5-2K RPM's. That and it only costs about 70 bucks if you do it yourself.
Yeah ditch the cats and get straight pipes. Anything else and its gonna be quiet or worse end up sounding like an angry honda and trust you don't want that. You could try turndowns too
I have the rear cat gutted, then a 24 inch glasspack then a y into 2 inch pipes the exits on each side at a 45 behind the rear wheels. I can set off car alarms easily with this setup.
I need to add that it does not sound like a honda, it's nice and deep through-out the rev range. By the way, my exhaust exits out 3 1/2 by 18 inch tips.
