The CDR is a tuna can on your intake. If you have a turbo, it's likely mounted on or near the drriver's side VC.

Ahhh gotcha, thank you for explaining it that way. I remember one time I came across an old boat with on old lemurs motor in it. Had so much blow by that when you took the oil fill cap off the valve cover it would blow exhaust out in perfect "smoke rings" in perfect rythem like a toy choo choo train. Funniest thing I've ever seen a motor do!!

it would work fine but you will still need either a Luminosity probe adapter or a Vibration type adapter to go with it.

as far as I know the Sealey TL95 timing adapter is the only one in production anymore.
There are Chinese Clones of the Sealey TL95 too.

I did a write up on a simple DIY adapter https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ing-probe.html

Well I got more info from the seller, I guess he had the injection pump replaced professionally by a shop (that's good) he says it'll start but only runs for like 30 seconds before it dies. So without seeing it yet, I'm assuming either it's air intrusion or supply restriction? Does that sound right? Or Am I over looking something?

IF I took my truck into a shop and they told me the IP was Bad ... I sure would not accept a Replacement that only runs 30 seconds.

Something don't sound right here JMHO

it could very well be the new IP was no good.

Every shop I have been in test runs the Pump before they install it, most of the Newer Shops will not even mess with these old IDI engines as nowadays they cater to Common Rail systems.
of course I don't know if the Owner of the truck just ordered a pump and said to the shop just install it... BUT I would sure think that the shop would have told him "Look here is the Problem why we cannot get it to run more than 30 seconds" Just saying.

That's very true. He's very short with his answers, so sounds like I need to go down and talk to him in person and see what he says then. I'll just assume I'm going to have to replace everything when considering my offer. I'll post an update later. Thank you all very much for your input. Knew I could count on y'all!!!! Thank you

these trucks use a Plastic Shower heads in the Tanks and they eventually fall apart and pieces can get sucked up into the FTSV (Fuel Tank Select Valve) and can run out of fuel between 1/4 and 1/2 tank.
Lift pump could be bad too, it's just hard to say what is going on with the information that is in the Thread.
It could be loosing power to the Fuel Shutoff solenoid on the pump too.

as a rule of thumb, I generally find the issues with what the last mechanic did or didn't do.
without diagnostics we can only guess.

Yeah I learned that too with boat owners. He just told me that the IP was the shops diagnosis and after that didn't fix it he decided he was done with the shop and the truck. So guess I'll just prepare to re do the fuel system from the tank up if I make an offer. Thanks lonewolf, ive ya another update when I get one.

Well i decided to walk away from that truck. Owner just wasnt willing to work with me on the price. BUT I have found another that has peaked my interest and would like yall to take a look as I have a question. So i found this, 86 250 4x4 6.9L 217k on it with a banks turbo and an ole c6 tranny. Exterior is a little rough, but the interior is damn near perfect so im thinking its been taken care of. Owner is a kid fresh out of high school and is tired of paying for the fuel so he's selling. He says it burns some oil but not sure how much ( dont really understand how you dont know) He is starting at 3k but I plan on talking him down from that. For the life me I cannot find my handy dandy door tag decipher sheet, so my main question is how do I tell what gear ratio and axle

it is? Just trying to figure out what the mpg should be vs. what he thinks it is. Any other thoughts on the truck are much appreciated as always. Thanks again.
