Had my Excursion in for a trailor hitch replacement which went well. Just before I left to get it done, turning the key only resulted in a clicking sound like a relay. As I was calling for a tow, I tried agai and all of the sudden It started. Well after replacing the starter and alternator, I thought all was ok. The next day, today I discovered the belt was chewed up along one edge. The new alternator had a damaged pulley that trashed the belt.
As I was showing the damaged parts to the shop, I noticed a piece from the belt chewed into the hood blanket.
the shop is accepting responsibility and is replacing the alternator and belt. As far as the hood blanket, they’re trying to source one.
my question, since a new hood blanket will be installed, is there any sound insulation I can put up there under the new blanket?
So the truck didn't start, then it did start so you had the starter and alternator replaced......Why both, what trouble shooting was done to indicate that both were faulty?
I think that its great that the shop is accepting responsibility and is covering the damage, but if the shop installed that alternator with the damaged pulley and either didn't notice it or thought that it was OK I would be looking for a new shop........Or at least requesting that whichever knuckle dragger did that job not be allowed near my rig again.
[QUOTE=mecdac;19497946]Only challenge I see with this product is: no cut-out for the under hood light.
I would think a hole could be cut for the light assembly. The cut edges could be lined with something to keep the material from fraying. So far it's either this or the Dynamat solution. I can't be the only one looking for a solution to the the hood blanket (pad).
If you're referring to White Bear lake Ford, I called them and they said not available. If you have different information, please let me know. So far I could only find these two and guess which one the shop wants to pay for...
Well shoot I’m sorry! I looked it up on the WBL website and it let me add it to my cart. Message 87crewdually, I think I remember him using a sheet product to line his hood.
