I want to throw a brake booster on my 64 F100, anyone know a good one to pull from a junkyard, and with that I don’t have more then 5hg of vacuum because of my engine set up. No power steering so I need an electric vacuum pump to run a booster. All new ones online are $180+, does anyone know of any car I can pull one off of and wire it in? I’m going to go junkyard surfing this weekend, just want to know what to look for if anybody has seen anything, or done it themselves?
thanks in advance!
I have installed a vacuum pump to run the booster on a car with low vacuum. If i were to have that job to do over i would recommend to my customer to stay with manual brakes. Noisy, always running. Only a couple stops, then no vacuum boost for a minute. Waste of time and money AFAIK.

I have messed with vacuum pumps quite a bit. I did find a very quiet pump and with added reservoir it worked fantastic but not cheap. First I bought a vacuum pump from Summit that was pretty expensive and it was total junk.
So yes there are pumps that work well but not happening for 180 budget
I have also used OEM style pumps which can be bought for fraction of the cost especially used.
