Does anyone know where to source a new anti-dieseling solenoid. The one on my truck is missing, I am constantly trying to adjust the idle screw to keep the truck in a happy place where it will idle in gear, it's an automatic, and keep the dieseling to a minimum.
No idea myself. Never had to buy one, because for some amazing reason, all of mine kept working.
Have you tried the usual suspects such as rockauto, or eBay, or Amazon? eBay always seems to have a lot of NOS original parts.
I thought it was primarily a anti dieseling deal, but I've read of guys repurposing it to kick up with AC.
My 1979 F-250 with factory AC and a 400 didn't come with a throttle kicker, or idle solenoid.
If I remember correctly they had key on power and were used as a anti-dieseling solenoid.
I don't remember them having enough power to actually kick up the idle speed when the AC was turned on, you had to give it a little throttle for them to kick up the throttle.
I do remember Ford using "VOTM" vacuum operated throttle modulators that were fed vacuum via an electric solenoid that kicked up the idle speed when the AC was turned on. VOTMs didn't need help kicking up the idle speed like the electric solenoids did.
On my 1976 F-250 one of these (my blue wire) comes from the alternator stator and supplies the electric choke thermostat voltage when the engine is running.
The other one (my red wire) is key on power. But then my truck doesn't have AC.
