returnless fuel system?
I am working on a 76 ford f250 2wd 360. Should there be a return fuel line to the tank to take care of excess pressure created by the constantly running mechanical fuel pump? thanks in advance!

There shouldn't be any excess pressure produced by the mechanical fuel pump. The internal spring pressing on the diaphragm determines the pressure. The 1976 Ford Shop Manual shows the static pressure for the 360 engine as 5.0 - 7.0 P.S.I. at normal operating temperature, idle speed, in neutral. The volume flow should be at least 1 pint in 20 seconds.

Did you have an AMC with it that vapor locked or close off that line to see if it would vapor lock?
Mine did not lock but I also never closed off the line to see if it would.
I know my 1976 258 six had it can't remember if my 1975 304 v8 car had the return system, going to have to check some day.
I know my 1070 360 v8 car does not have a return.
