This is a easy one for some of you all.I have been checking on the inter web for correct torque for head bolts on a 73- 79
300.
interweb says 80 some say 85. I am familiar with the torque pattern. Most of my exp. has been on v8's.
Thank you in advance for your time.
It really doesn't matter just split the difference. unless you have a quality torque wrench that's been verified it's not within 5 lbs anyway chances are. I've seen them off 15 lbs that's why I bought a Snap On one and I verify it every year.

First, Thanks for the help.
440 Sixpack I guess my question was what is the torque specs actually, I was not sure if those numbers were correct, not the tolerances, I am searching for an old motor manual for this engine.
As for the torque wrench, the one I use was given to me by a retired engine builder that built engines for a living. so close enough for what I am doing. If I was building a racing engine then, definitely go with the certified wrench..
What I was looking for is what was supplied by DLburch and Gashog. EXactly what I was looking for.....
Just FYI, I just purchased this 79 4x4 flareside several weeks ago and doing a partial restore and was checking and cleaning under the hood, had valve cover off and thought I would check head bolts torque.
Thank you, I really appreciate all you spending your time helping.
