Hello everyone,
Can someone please tell me where the Module is for the Courtesy Lights and if the Module is available anywhere? I'm having difficulty locally.
Thanks and a lift of the lynch lid for any responses.
Sorry JWA, I have a prior thread that received several visits but no responses so I'm attempting to reframe my question. Shortly after getting this 1998 E 150 the Courtesy Lights have not always shut off, thus draining the battery. With increasing frequency I've been forced to angle the individual lights slightly to break their connection.
I've gone to the TSM for my van and step one is to disconnect the Light Switch, which I've done with no results (the lights stay on). The next step is to disconnect the Courtesy Lights Module, but the TSM is lacking when telling where that Module is.
So I'm hoping that someone has a pic or can direct me. Also in case the module is faulty, I looked online yesterday for a replacement, to no avail. I was hoping that someone my know of a source that I overlooked.
I'm not so sure a 98 would have a separate module for that, but it might have a relay that could be stuck, or it could be one of the door switches that is the problem.
Thanks Conanski, I was taking it step by step by the TSM but a tangent at this point may be a good idea. Thanks! Actually I'm thinking it may be another overtaxed circuit light the multifunction switch was on mine, I had to run a bypass to a floor dimmer switch in the end.
Edit: I just had an idea, it may be the back interior cargo light rocker switch is in the wrong position. I'll have a look tomorrow.
Hmmm, I checked out the rear cargo light (whatever it's called) and the treble switch was to the right. I centered it and after a pause, the Courtesy Lights went out. I guess I can put this down to operator error, that is if my battery isn't drained in the morning.
Edit: Yep that was it, for the last several months. Now if I can ever get the Keyless Entry working again I'll be in fine shape!
