I just installed a Fram Sure Drain in my F150. It allows for hands clean changes. Very nicely designed and seems better than the Fumoto valve that has a lever to open it (and a warning to check the lever if anything hits the bottom of the vehicle). While the Fumoto would drain more freely, the Fram is very nice and has a brass dust cover. No tools needed, just twist on the brass fitting with drain hose and it opens the valve. Must have hot oil as it drains more slowly, but on a higher ground clearance vehicle you can skip the pan and drain it directly into the bottle to take to the recycler. Also good for sample collection. I may get these for all my family's vehicles. The Fram was $13 at Autozone, whereas the Fumoto was around $21 plus shipping.
I have the Fumoto and I thought the quality of construction was much better than the SureDrain. I have the lever positioned on my truck so that it points up.
The fram is probably easier to use though, and less messy to boot. To each his own, I guess.
I suspect the Fumoto is the better [quality] valve, particularly on discharge rate, which could be a problem if the Fram's slower rate leaves junk in the pan. However, there were a lot of features of the Fram that I found favorable, including the price [making it "better" to me]. As you say, to each his own. I may get the Fumoto for one of our vehicles just so I can experience both. Are there any other brands of these things available?
[BYW, the Fumoto would be good on my wife's Aerostar which I normally change cold as the filter, when hot, drips a lot of oil down into the starter--not good. On a cold change I certainly would want the better flow rate I believe the Fumoto has]

I installed the SureDrain in my VW and love it.
For the next oil change in my F150 I may also install the SueDrain.
I already have a universal oil filter relocation kit but the OEM filter did not fit the adapter fitting. I guess I have to get a different filter for that.

Why are you going to relocate the filter? If it takes the FL-1A and there is room you can get a F700 version (WIX 51773) that is nearly 2 inches longer for extra filtration.
UGHHHHH i just did my oil change yesterday andi got more oil on my arms than in the pail.. i wish i had know this a long time ago about the fram sure drain kit. do they sell this in canada guys??

If you can't find it, go to the Fram website and call their customer service. They shoud be able to tell you what dealers they are shipping these to in your area. Alternately, the Fumoto is available by mail order. Also JC Whitney and Summit Racing (www.summit.com I think) have the Fram for about $15. Be sure you get the right thread size.

I want to relocate the filter because of it's horrible location. It was a pain to remove and it drains into that little pan on the crossmember (more cleanup). Also, it was tough to get a wrench on it.
I'm not sure if it takes the FL-1A, I used a Purolator.
i have had great success with the fumoto valves. They are a sturdy brass construction and work great. this is on a street use, 2wd application. i personally wouldnt use any oil valve if i was using the truck in hard 4wd applications.

Hey Black Wolf. I have seen the Fram Sure drain kit available at my local Canadian tire here in Sarnia, Ontario. I THINK it was around $20 Canadian. Good luck!
