95 xlt 4x4.....OBD or EEC
95 and earlier Fords have an EEC-IV (Electronic Engine Control, series 4) which includes OBD-I (On-Board Diagnostics, Stage 1) OBD-I is not at all controversial and creates zero problems for hot-rodding the engine, look at the 5.0 Mustangs.
In 1997 all vehicles were required to convert to OBD-II for smog control reasons. OBD-II monitors a lot more things and will throw error codes more readily when it runs up against a modification. You still can modify engines with these controllers but it takes a little more knowledge and/or work.
In 1996 Ford swithced to the EEC-V series PCM (Powertrain Control Module, i.e. computer) to include and implement the OBD-II requirements. Some 96 models have only part of thr OBD-II protocols, some have most or all.
then it whines less, and gives a better spark/fuel map.
either one works.. just another $300+ to do it with eec-v

I doubt EEC-V does ANYTHING practical better the EEC-IV.
hmmm.. 94 stang, new body style, 5.0, eec-iv... huhmmmm that sounds like a cool car. (saw one yesterday.. had the 5.0 decals on it from an early 90's stang, but was a 94 5.0 fox, lowered and all..very cool)
