Anyone here ever bend a rod?
I was coming out of the desert into flagstaff though I heard a funny sound stopped about 10 miles later bad knocking.
limped to our RV place and now sound like it’s going to put a piston through the block.
closest for dealer is 100 miles away have wife, RV and 2 dogs on way back to Dallas.
6.7 and haven’t put a tuner, intake or exhaust on anything in 20 years. I’m an old guy.
Have had lots over power strokes and never had a mechanical problem.
19 F350 dually 60k on odo and was pulling 13k.
Is the engine running poorly or is this just a noise? Ignore the noise. Just evaluate the engine's performance. Neither your coolant or oil temperatures are anything to be concerned over and are not pointing to any kind of problem. I suppose the oil pressure is okay, or you would have mentioned it.
I don't know why you believe to have a bent rod. Normally, you bend a rod by hydraulicing a cylinder. This can happen with a stuck injector or other liquid in the cylinder.
If your warranty is good and you have no issues other than the noise, I would be inclined to drive the truck to your destination. If it blows on the road, well, you are pretty much in the same place as you are now; needing a tow and a rental vehicle.
Temp are good
oil pressure good
well running from where I’m at would be a risky cause. Heading back to Dallas there some very large gaps in civilization. Also all hot. I’m still 300 miles from Albuquerque.
its a pretty loud clank.
had an on call diesel mechanic look/ listen he said can’t really tell what it is. However he did say doesn’t sound good at all.
OK. Got it. I thought from your original post you were in Flag. Sorry. Might still be your best bet......stay where you are and get truck diagnosed and then make decision from there.
Anything here is just speculation and likely won’t fix your truck.

sorry bad description of lapsed time. Climbing into to flagstaff was a reference to a long climb out of the desert.
Call Ford cust svc and arrange a tow on their dime.
Make arrangments to have your 5th wheel there for an extended stay or put in storage if they have it.
Rent a car and camp out at the dealer.
That is what I would do. If you have any insurance for vacation interruptions then I would see what help they could be to defray costs.
Fortunately ford customer care has been on the ball.
Truck was picked up by ford this morning.
Tow truck driver said, “wow that sounds like a rod”.
service advisor called me upon delivery of my truck said, “we have your truck and one of our diesel tech pulled it around. Tech said sounds like a rod”.
They will look at it tomorrow and let me know what they find.
Ford is also trying to get a loaner delivered to me by tomorrow.
Honestly I hope it’s just an injector...
