Front wheel brearings temp
I hope this is the right forum.
I changed ball joints, and tie rod ends and cleaned and repacked the bearings.
Today after I drove it I put it in the garage and it smelled like something was hot. I checked the dust caps on the spindles and could not put my hands on them. Are they supposed to be this hot? I thought it might just be the new grease heating up causing the smell.
The wheels spin easily and I followed the instructions in the Haynes manual. Tourque to 21-25 ft lbs, then spin the wheels, check the torque again. Then back off 1/8 turn. Then tighten hand tight. When I tried to hand tighten, it would not move.
I put it all back together and here we are.
Any tips, or is everything jake?
Thanks
Frank
