power issues, serious lack of
but the main thing is the serious lack of power. I have been reading forums for 3 hours to get some info on how to fix it but I think I need to work out some timing problems.
I also have been trying to find out if there is an easier way to find out how to fix the emissions problems because another guy I know says 2.8's have emissions problems.
I am goiong to take off the carb and flush it out and check it for gunk in it but the bII starts great idles great still clicks a bit but
i just about have to floor the pedal to acelerate in all gears.
Can I remove the emissions from a 2.8 and have it still run???
If you think timing is an issue, it's easy to check. Disconnect SPOUT connector and hook up your timing light. Idle previously warmed up engine to check base timing (should be ~10º BTDC). Timing is adjusted by rotating distributor. When bas timing is set, reconnect SPOUT connector and run KOER test. Between engine i.d. code and dynamic response pulse, engine runs at high RPM and performs a timing advance check. Your timing light should indicate that the timing is base (10º) + 20º BTDC.
See what that gets you.
