1978 bronco
I have a 1978 bronco with a 351m C6 tranny, as it stands im getting maybe 5mpg, is there anyway I can boost that? I was thinking changing the rear gearing but not sure which would be best, the truck will mostly be a recreational vehicle, hunting, fishing maybe light off roading. Not sure what gears it has now, but it's incredibly slow, timed 0 - 60 at 38 seconds

5mpg is a little excessive.. that's about why my wore out old 460 would get while I was hot rodding it around.. I'd say your carb probably needs a good cleaning at the minimum, sounds like it might be dumping fuel instead of metering it.. I'd start there, and go with a good tune up, plugs, wires, check the timing

Yep, rebuild the carburetor! $25 and an afternoon at the workbench or kitchen table will save you that in fuel inside of two weeks.
My mildly built 400 gets about 11MPG and, like 68f100, I can't seem to keep my foot out of it! It really likes to RUN!
