hello all, Im getting my truck finally back together and need to fill both differentials and my transmission (manuel) up. I was thinking about buying a 5 gallon bucket of gear oil. Some mystik jt-6. My rear end is not a limited slip, and I was thinking of running some lucas stuff through my tranny, Just wondering if anyone has had good luck with any particular oil, and about the lucas junk. P.S. how much will both differentials and a tranny hold? Thanks to all input
I've been using amzoil synthetic dana 44 = 4 pints dana 60 = 6 pints ford 9 inch = 6.5 pints 3speed ford tranny=3.5 pints 3speed warner t87-g =7 pints 4speed warnert18-b=7 pints
new process 435 =7 pints dana 21 t-case=3.5 pints,dana 20=
2.75 pints,np 205=4 pints,np203(full timer) 9 pints
Forget the Lucas, it does make the oil climb the gears but causes foam when heated, you don't want that. There is a demo of this process on http://www.bobistheoilguy.com where a tub of Lucas gets spun into a froth.
