If you're spec'ing a dump trailer, be sure to spring extra for double batteries. It's money well spent. I've been transporting and dumping 50+ tons a day, and my hydraulic dump has not slowed down one bit. The fact that my pickup is newer might help, with thicker wiring back to the 12v in the socket.
Previous to buying a dump, I rented them. Single batteries, even brand new, start to slow down seriously after 4 dumps. I ran a 110v cord from inside the cab back to the trailer's charger. That helped some.
Running a dedicated wire of sufficient gauge is the way to go. 10 gauge wire is not stout enough. A DC-DC charger may be necessary to limit the number of amps that get pushed to the trailer.
Well it was a elec/hydr boom truck in its former life, and I saved all that cable when I removed the bed. Maybe I'll wire it up with 00 gauge back there, lol.
