Stoplight runners

Followup on my original post - the obit for the driver killed was in the paper today. He had a wife and 3 year old daughter, and another baby due soon. It only takes a few seconds to change many lives.

We have one in my town. We use to have two but because of the problems it caused they got rid of one and made it an intersection instead. If fact my son was involved in a minor fender bender in that one. Trust me, you get the same type of people in a hurry trying to merge, cut across, don't know when to pull into traffic and just sit there and agressive behavior just as you would have in an intersection. You trade one evil for another. Not much different in my opinion, but I'll take the intersection.

This might be the start of another thread or perhaps this one has been hashed over before but here it goes. While were on this subject of red light runners, how do you feel about cameras at intersections? Are you for them or against them? Do they do their job at catching those who run through red lights and are they effective? There have been some reports that in some cities they have reduced the incidents of red light runners. My city is starting to put a few of them up on a trial baisis. My guess is that they will add more and become permanant. People will start complaining about "Big Brother", but if the people will not take care of the problem themselves who else is to blame? Once people get use to the idea government steps in a little more. If we allow cameras at intersections, when will in stop? Take a look at England. Personally, I say get rid of them.

Stoplight runners

I think that personally I'm an overly cautious driver. I'm 18, and I just bought my first truck about a month ago. My mom always told me to check both ways before going at a green light to watch out for the light runners.

As well, I think I'm probably one of those idiots on the road.
I was going over to the local Best Buy with my buddy and I saw a Honda all riced out. This got me thinking about how crappy I think Hondas are. I wasn't paying attention and I turned into some poor kid in a Trans Am. I hit him in the drivers side. Ripped up the fiberglass pretty good, but the kid was ok. He had a few cuts on the bottom of his arm but in general he was ok. He was really nice about it too. EXTREMELY nice. After this though, I'm making sure that when I do drive again (Bronco is under going repairs. Getting the frame bent back into shape, then after that the new front-clip is going on. I need to buy some patch panels for my quarters and get a new tailgate because of rust before I can repaint it. Gonna be a pain finding that tailgate) I always pay attention and that I never cause an accedent. I'm just happy that nobody was hurt in my crash. I felt really sorry for the kid too. Because he just got off work and he's cruisin' home and some (IE: ME) comes whippin around the corner not paying attention and slamming right into him.

I got some pics of my Bronco if you want to see them, I just have to find them...

These should be the pics

A funny story about those traffic circles. When I was in germany you have the right of way entering the circle and not leaving. Well to make a long story short, I was hauling a topped off fuel truck with my 5 ton wrecker and actually got stuck in the traffic circle for over a half hour befor the flow lightened up so I could continiue on. Funny now but but I wasn't to happy then.
