What primer??

Good day everyone, I知 in the process of restoring a 1970 F350 and I知 almost ready for primer. Welded in new floor pans, cab corners etc. Body filler is almost done. What is the best primer to use for a gloss black top coat. Doesn稚 have to be show car quality just decent. Thanks

Todays paints are literally a chemistry class (or experiment) and it is best IMHO to stick with one mfg's product line for the primers, etc..

Well a 2k primer is what is common but you better make sure your body filler is blocked and pinhole free with no off gassing as is common with some fillers.

PPG, Sherwin-Williams, GE are all very good brands with different lines/grades ranging from basic (so to speak) to very high end ($$$). IMHO, whatever your local autopaint supplier sells, that's what I would go with because they will know that specific line very well, understand which specific reducer/hardner to use (this is weather dependent) and you will end up with very nice results!
