I'm seeking a little clarity here. Is the rear differential fluid the same as the rear axle lubricant? I have two different terminologies I'm seeing in my two DIY books. What kind of fluid do you use for my 1989 E150 with 5.0L 302 rear-wheel drive? I don't think there's a transfer case with a rear-wheel drive, right? Thanks for entertaining my dumb questions.
Yes they are the same, 80w90 gear oil was original I believe but other viscosities could be used such as 75w90 and synthetic instead of conventional oil.
