Did some work on the chrome, paint matched side emblems (previously were wrapped) and the front oval.. Got the paint from automotive touchup . com... each piece did the following: 2 coats adhesive promoter, 3-4 coats base color, 5 coats clear. then finished with some wet sanding, then a couple coats of turtle wax hybrid ceramic polish.... I think they look good for an amateur and rattle can..... front emblem sticker is from pro stickers . com... they come in a set, front oval, rear oval, steering wheel oval.
I’ve met like 3 people in my whole life that like chrome on trucks. I’m not sure why the sport package isn’t standard on trucks yet. Only chrome left in my truck is the rear emblem (have a agate black one just haven’t swapped) and my headlights, which the only aftermarket a I like are the Morimotos... and 1600 got headlights isn’t gonna happen.

agree with you, never liked chrome. Only thing left are the bumpers and wheels. Thinking about color match linex for bumpers and not sure what to do with wheels... Already did the morimoto's and you can find them for cheaper closer to Christmas. Might want to look at the hybrid's they have now for the SD's.... https://www.theretrofitsource.com/fo...hts?quantity=1

you can tint raptor liner super easy, and it’s probably the easiest paint to apply... prep is the key... I bought a cheap sand blaster and did mine myself... need to do the front still but gonna order a new number first. Just gotta blast, self etch, prime, sand, and then they recommend 2 coats I did 4. Also, I might like these morimotos more than the regular ones. Got my wheels spinning now.

I saw your thread about raptor, and I have looked into monstaliner as well. they recommend just sanding the chrome with 80 grit, prime and roll on the liner. I went to linex today and they said 500 would do the job. will look into raptor a little more, but not sure I want to tackle that job. I have access to paint for matching, so that is not a big deal....

I like my factory chrome,
but I won't be adding and certainly won't be deleting.

500 isn’t bad, especially when you can just drop them off there and you know it’s gonna work and look the best. I would jump on that or spray... rolling it on is hard to get an even finish, rolled my Rangers bed in mostaliner and me and buddy spent 2 cases removing that stuff to spray raptor.

Same here, I even have a Tremor with blacked out wheels and running boards but like the chrome accents it has. My last truck had a sport package too and never really liked the look.
Some vehicles scream for chrome, others don't. Today's vehicles lack the class of days gone by. I do agree, some applications look far better with no chrome. On the other hand, a Karmann Ghia or a classic Thunderbird looks way off without chrome.
Yours is coming along nicely. I look forward to the final result.
I was just wanting to add to your elite list of folks who liked chrome.
Khawbaker...............I'm the fourth guy you "met" who likes chrome...Both my 2009 and my 2017 have the chrome package (and I polish it!). Guess it's because I grew up in the 50's and 60's. Remember the 58 Buick. It would blind you in bright sunlight.
just got a line on a set of chrome fuel throttle wheels that are in bad shape, but I can get them powder coated. they are not bent or cracked and otherwise hold air in tires.. waiting on a response from a powder coater on an estimate on how much to coat them. After that will be chrome free.
