what is it
thanx!! so will this fix a problem im having with my transmission? my truck overheats and theres stuff cumn outta my water reservoir and everytime i put water in it still overheata and i gotta keep puttn water and when i looked in my transmission with the dipstick there was stuff in there...
If your transmission fluid is not cherry bright red, but milky or creamy looking, you most likely have a bad radiator. There is an internal transmission cooler line inside of the radiator, surrounded by radiator coolant. If the internal trans cooler line fails (cracks) it will allow the two to mix ( this is bad....). Don't drive the Expy till you pull the radiator out and examine or pressure test the transmission cooler that runs through it. I don't see any transmission fluid on that external cooler picture you posted above, so I seriously doubt that is your problem. If the external tranny cooler was leaking you would just lose trans fluid there, but it would not turn the fluid milky that's in the transmission pan (that you see on the dipstick). Pull the radiator out and replace it. After you replace the radiator, drain and flush the transmission fluid before you drive it anywhere. That milky fluid will ruin your transmission. The heavy duty radiator ( Expy's with tow package...) is a 2 row core radiator for better cooling. You will need to flush your cooling system and your transmission, and change your tranny filter as well.

First off, what exactly do you mean by "stuff" in the Coolant Reservoir and on the Transmission Dipstick? A picture of both would explain this beyond any doubts and prevent throwing unnecessary parts at the truck. Transmission Fluid is RED. Coolant is GREEN. These trucks don't care what brand the coolant is, as long as it's old-school standard coolant (NOT Dexcool!!!) I use Walmart's Supertech Coolant since it meets the specs for my E38 BMW 740i (amino, silicate and nitrite-free) and works in the Expedition just fine too.
Here's the pre-mixed stuff: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Supertech...eeze/299226991
And for $2 more, mix it yourself and get double the yield: https://www.walmart.com/ip/SuperTech...eeze/654563748
The first picture is a Power Steering Cooler, and looks like a generic one. Not relevant to either concern. If your Expedition has the Heavy Duty Tow Package (Look for 7-pin trailer connector), you will have an Auxiliary Transmission Cooler mounted on the Passenger side in front of the Radiator. Remove the top cover with the Belt Routing label (a few push clips) and look straight down from the passenger end of the grille. Here is what it looks like: https://www.carparts.com/details/For...E&gclsrc=aw.ds
The way it is plumbed is that ATF goes into the Aux cooler first, then to the Main Cooler in the bottom of the Radiator second and then back to the Transmission.
Anyway, get a picture of both the Transmission Dipstick and what's in the Coolant Reservoir and come back. We're FAR more capable of giving you correct information this way.
