I thought I would share my latest purchase.
I found this machine shop who has developed and is now marketing a rock guard that is what I think is the best design yet.
It’s a separate two piece design that simply inserts into the open ends of our hitch and clamp on. Lighter, so much easier to store, installs in a second and much more attractive. They also mount under the bumper instead of behind the bumper.
You can also have them custom engrave whatever you want into the polished stainless flap weight.
I had them send mine nickel brushed stainless to match the trim on my truck.
ill take a picture of my set mounted on my truck tomorrow.

Their turn around is fast. They cost somewhere around $400.00. Custom engraving is like 70 bucks. I believe their own engraved company logo comes with the flaps. I imagine they can engrave whatever you want. I went plain/brushed.
It’s a smart and very simple design. I’m surprised that no one has marketed this type of mount before.
The area that is inserts into the sides of the hitch come with 8 adjustable Allen screws that can be adjusted to any abnormality inside. Took me 2 minutes to get each side to fit like a glove.
I was hoping they would be the end all mudflap, they are not. The set screws that you use to level/tighten them won't stay set. No way to lock them and I pull a zip tie over the latch just in case of unlatching going down the road. Plus, had to put some sheet metal on top of them to keep rocks from deflecting off the bar and chipping the paint on the front of my boat. Too expensive for what you get.

Sounds like a little red Loctite would fix the set screw problem. A plate on the top would be a good addition and double as a step for climbing up in the bed... provided the tube is heavy enough to support that load.
