6.0 Mechanic HELP!!
So I have a 2005 X with a 6.0. Check engine light came in and the code showed #8 glow plug open circuit. I changed the glow plug out and cleared the code, drove it 100 yards and the light came back on and shows the same code. I’ve tried clearing the code again, I’ve driven it several times and the code remains. Any suggestions? Thoughts? I have to get the stupid code off for county emission testing to pass it so I can get tags. I’m at a loss now.

It could be a few things. The glow plug harness is known to go bad when you pull the glow plugs out. You can find the harnesses relatively cheap on amazon or a few other sites. You could have an injector issue. Highly unlikely, but I had that with one of the bad injectors. You can also have a leaking head gasket. When I had the head gaskets finally fail, I had glow plug codes for the 2 cylinders that the gaskets were blown on. Lastly you could have issues with the glow plug module. I would start with wiring connections.
