So I just found out that I have no brake lights on my 48. After an hour of troubleshooting I’m pretty sure it’s the turn signal controller. I have voltage all the way to the controller when I step on the brake, signals work as does the running lights. My conclusion is that the switch on the steering column is f##ed.
The unit you have is popular and usually very reliable. Chances are if you were to open it up, you could probably see what's wrong and fix the loose or broken wire and be good to go. They are simple inside.
I had one of those switches (or a version of it) on another project. I chased my tail for a while trying to troubleshoot the issue. Never could fix it - even after opening it. Find a Signal Stat 900 and install it. No regrets.
Thx guys for the responses. Turned out to be an easy fix. The thingy wasn’t screwed down to the whatsit enough and the springy things weren’t touching the hoosits.
ok...the piece that rotates to make contact with the fixed piece was loose. Tighten the screw and everything made contact.
