Cool Sport Trac A/C issues

My 2007 sport trac just started cycling a/c air between the defroster and forward vents. freon is full, a/c is cold air.....this limited v8 has dual a/c temp controller btw...any ideas where i should begin?

If it's cycling between which vents the air comes from, but the air temperature seems correct, then issue is not related to the refrigerant level but rather the controller, door/flap motors, or temperature sensors. I am pretty sure the automatic climate control uses motors rather than vacuum, so since it's also blowing out the defroster vents some times, I'd be most suspicious of the Dual Automatic Temperature Control (DATC) head.

Unfortunately, thanks to the midwest derecho last week, I'm on Day 9 of no power at home and therefore am unable to pull up my service manuals to confirm my thoughts above.

Thanks Rod, I had read to listen for clicking sound coming from behind the glove box....none....then i removed a small check valve close to the firewall, checked it for leakage and reinstalled it....low and behold the system has been working normal since...go figure.....hope your home issues and coming together....i saw that line of storms topping 70000 ft last week....
