Neutral SW lever install help

Olblack is a 1976 F-250 . I recently replaced my neutral safety switch and actuator. After the spring broke n shorted across the hot n caught on fire and shot foot tall flames up into my dashboard because the cheap best I could afford oil pressure gauge leaked oil because the oem oil pressure gauge was questionable because the others sure were. Twice . 30 some years ago. And now my hands are too screwed up to be able to get the actuating lever #7B079 ( thanks 77-79 ) , hooked up any suggestions? Some great pictures over on 1977s thread. Thanks man

I see that you are in Alaska so these might not be an option. Get the neighbor kid to put his phone down long enough to lend a good pair of hands, and then eat some free pizza afterwards. Or get on your state chapter forum and put the word out that you need help. Ak https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum152/
Do you have any local "Mobile Mechanics" that come to you and do simple automotive stuff? Do you know anyone that runs/works a VOTECH school, maybe they can help out and send a smart student your way.

I will not say just by pass it, because that is stupid and unsafe advice. Again.... I am not saying this is a good idea. But I read this is what you can do if your NSS switch goes bad and you are stranded along side the road and your truck will not start. I have even see that if your switch or the steering column tab breaks off, you can do a "screw" bypass. Again NOT SAFE and NOT my idea.

"When the trucks came with a manual trans, there was a dummy plug used to bypass the NSS switch. I've never been able to come up with a part number for the dummy plug. To bypass the automatic set up: Unplug the switch and discard or ignore. There are four wires in the harness plug, two each, red w/ blue trace and black w/ red trace. Run a jumper between the red/blue and red/blue, do the same for the black/red. That completely bypasses the NSS switch. Your truck will now start and the back-up lights will be permanently on. Now on to the backup lights. In the engine compartment is a little U shaped jumper wire. It'll be located on the drivers side splash pan, just in front of the firewall where the wiring harness comes through. Unplug the little jumper, this will shut off the back up lights. There should be a back up light switch on the trans cover. Run two wires from the switch to the two wires that were jumped. This will get your back up lights working again. Just a note, you could make a jumper plug out of the NSS. Cut the switch off the harness and splice the two pairs of wires. I just hate to cut these switches up. New, they're getting pricey. Here's the little jumper in the engine compartment. EDIT: If you don't care about the back up lights, just jumper the red w/ blue trace wires. This will bypass the NSS, but the back up lights won't work.
