So, I've had multiple cups and cans tip on me in the stock center console cup holder. Does anyone know of a way to make it deeper or what to upgrade to so I dont have that happen anymore? Also, the in dash cup holder is way worn out. Any ideas on a way to make it better or to upgrade that one as well? Thanks all!!
Yes, there is an upgrade for this if you have an early Excursion. My 2000 came with the shallow console cup holder. I am not sure if new ones are available at the dealerships anymore, but I bought a 2005 which is deeper and works well. Open the hatch to the console and lift and snap out the old one, than snap in the the newer deep one in to replace it. You may end up having to search the salvage yards to find one.
cheaper elsewhere but this is the deeper one. I think I am going to buy another and modify the cups so they fit my 18oz yeti’s better. Edit: just ordered one in flint, will match my 2000 interior better, will hack up the parchment one first.....
Modded my cup holders, yeti tumblers and the 12&18oz rambler bottles fit in the front cup holders now. Heated the cups up with a heat gun and forced in a tumbler until it bottomed out then left it until completely cool. The Rambler bottles only go in about 1/3-1/2 of the depth of the smaller portion of the cup holder but it is enough to keep it in place, before modding they would only go in about 1/8” now it is about 1”
Just installed the new cup holder, today. Not a huge difference, but for 20 bucks, hard to beat. Also, the swap enlightened me as to where old coffee had strayed.
