Need some help with translating 1949 paint codes...
Hi all,
I'm trying to get a couple of quarts of paint mixed to demo on my truck. I have the PPG paint codes for both colors, but neither Sherwin-Williams or PPG can mix up regular oil-based enamel (which costs ~$15 a quart) based on these codes. For some reason, they can only mix automotive paint (starting at $75-100 a quart) using the PPG codes. I got the codes here: (https://paintref.com/cgi-bin/chipcre...rd&model=&ret=)
I got oil based paint to match my Meadow Green by taking a paint chip to the paint store. I used this oil base paint to paint my bed boards body color.
It didn't quite match so I took the end strip which was painted and the lady at the store added some tint and matched it perfectly.
I might be stuck doing that for the meadow green, I've tried matching paint chips before with mixed results. But I don't have a paint chip for the silvertone gray...
