2017 Heavy tailgate

Neighbor just purchased a new 2020 and we noticed a big difference in the heavier weight of my 2017. Both have the tailgate step but for the life of us we can't figure out where or why the difference.

Does one have the tailgate damper? The damper does make them feel different.

That is exactly what I was thinking too.

I installed the OEM damper on my XLT and it's one of the best and easiest mods ever.

You guys know if the dampener comes with it if you have the remote tailgate release? Seems like it would...

As already mentioned....it sounds like one has the dampener and one doesn't. My 2017 had the step with no dampener and my 2020 has the step with no dampener and they are both heavy.

LOL.....It would be quite interesting to see the tailgate slam down after hitting the remote release without said dampener installed.
