Hi all,
Just put in my new steering box and coupler have not tightened any thing down yet an still need to add the clamp for the column but the parking brake cable does not seem to be in the right spot, can any one confirm? This was how it was when I got it but there's been a lot of stuff in the wrong spot. I'm not a fan of it rubbing on the steering box.
Any help appreciated

Reason: Unclear
The parking brake cable should be on the other side of the steering box. It appears you have steering column problems too as there is the plastic inner bearing race visible on the shaft. It also looks like the alignment is off and the rag joint is under stress (this could be an optical illusion or related to steering column bearings)

Thanks, nothing's bolted down yet so probably why it looks off. Still need to put on more parts. Thanks for the info I'll route the cable on the other side.
Also, for the lower clamp that keeps the bearing where it belongs, Wild Horses Bronco has a stainless steel steering shaft clamp 66-75, item number 2792 for $19.95 plus shipping. It fits our trucks and can be installed with everything else done.
Mine is routed correctly, but still touches the steering box. I added power steering from a '67. So I put a length of rubber hose around the cable housing so the rubber protects the housing from rubbing on the box. Jeff

Good tip thanks, I've found multiple pictures and they all seem to route the cable above the box, I'm going to see what works the best this weekend.
Here's a picture of a slightly older Ford truck but the cable routing is consistent with later years. Routed between steering gear and inner fender. This picture is of an original truck back in that era.
