New work truck, possibly?

Hi everyone!

I havent posted in just about forever on here but i wanted to see if anyone might want to weigh in on a possible new work truck. I just started my own business and wanted something reliable but I can't afford anything crazy right now. I found an 88 F250 with a 5.0 automatic (I *think* its a C6 but I dont know for sure) and a Reading utility bed. According to the current owner it runs and drives daily but has what sounds like a slip issue in the trans. They describe it as "hesitation on steep hills". Its only $800 so I have my suspicions but im using my day off tomorrow to go look at it and see what's what.

Anyone have one of these before and if so what should I look out for? I have some experience with the 5.0 in my 69 F100 but I've never had a Ford automatic before. I briefly owned an 89 F350 years ago, but never a 250. I mainly want the work truck for the utility bed and better towing capacity than my 69. Just looking for some input from some people with more experience than me. Thanks!

check the door jamb sticker, trans code K=C6. trans code T=AOD, and post what axle code is, it will determine if its geared to haul, or for mpg.

So I went to look at it. Trans code was K so it was the C6. But the 302 was missing on 3 or 4 cylinders and the brakes were basically non existent. Tires were bald as Jeff Bezos and there was rot everywhere.

Im usually up for a project but even at the low $800 asking price it was way more than I was hoping to get into right about now. Still, worth taking a look and man oh man do I love how these old trucks drive!
