Hello
I recently purchased a 1996 F800 auto dump truck to use on my land to build a pond. The truck was a highway maintenance vehicle so the box is pretty rusty but it only has 113,000 miles on it. On the right side in the front on the engine compartment is container that the line is broken off. The line goes from the container to the intake. I am trying to figure out what this does and if it is needed.
Thank you
Vern
That’s the cold start aid, it’s a small can of ether that’s injected into the intake to help start the engine in cold weather
There should be a button on the dash to activate it
They worked good when new but become problematic with age, solenoid goes bad or can won’t seal good letting the ether slowly leak out, then when you need it the cam is empty
I recommend you remove it and plug the fitting in the intake
