1999 V10 Interchangeability Question
1999 V10 Interchangeability Question
Good Day Everyone,
I have a 99 F250 S.D. with a 6.8 in it. The engine is getting way up in miles now, app 700K, and I want to find a motor I can strip down and build to replace the one in it now. I have been told that you have to match the 8th digit in your VIN, mine is "S" to get an acceptable donor for replacement but I am curious as I am only planning on using the long block as the donor. So does it matter what year the donor is ??? I have been looking at specs and it seems the newer the motor is the more H.P. and torque they have and I was wondering if I can use a newer motor in my truck ?? Any help or advice on this would be appreciated as I am just starting to look into this engine swap !! Thanks
