can we just add a proportioning (brake pressure differential) valve to a regular all drum manual master cyl. for front discs? or does the master cyl. have to be changed.

Brake Pressure Differential Valves used on all 1967 and later vehicles with a dual master cylinder. Drum brakes use a different valve than disc brakes.
Drum brake master cylinder different than disc brake master cylinder. 1973 was the first year that F100 2WD's came with discs.
