AMP Research Power Steps

I know that many have them, but I had AMP power steps installed this week. I’ve been very impressed with their quality and function so far. I’m very pleased with the purchase and would recommend them.

I completely agree. I got a set up AMP Research PowerStep Xtreme along with the PowerStep Override Switch (P/N: 79106-01A) so that I can keep the steps up or down or normal operation. Really happy with them

Thanks for the review. I need some running boards to stand on to wash the roof in this monster and was curious about the AMPs

It's weird you posted this. I got disgusted with the chrome paint peeling on my factory running boards for the last time and started researching these. I do really like the looks of these trucks when the steps are retracted.

I've installed 2 sets of Amp Research Powersteps on 2 of my previous trucks. Over 8 years of usage in the Northeast USA Saltbelt, over 300k+ miles total daily driving through snow, salt, rain, and mud. Never had an issue. Highly recommend them. If my current truck didn't come with factory powersteps, Amp Powersteps would have been one of the first modifications.

I have a set on my truck and as nice as they are, they still come with problems. The controller will go out and cause your running boards to not deploy, deploy half way or stay deployed. I called and they said I need a new controller (Truck was 2 years old). Since I was the 2nd owner, the warranty is void. They told me there’s really nothing to fix the issue other than put a thermal wrap on the controller...

They are the best running boards out there but be mindful on the very common controllers going out.

I keep hearing everyone mention the override switch. I assume that everyone knows if you just keep your foot on the board when it tries to retract, it will remain in the deployed position until the next time you open and close your door. It is presented as a feature for cleaning the boards if necessary. It works very well.

I added a switch and relay so after we open our doors, i flip the switch and they remain deployed. Nobody has said if the switch comes with a harness and do they remain
deployed until the switch if flipped?

Had the same issue within 6 months of being install by truck n trailer. Took back and found out the module was installed where the engine heat was causing this issue. Module was replaced under warranty and they zip tied the module to my suction line of the A/C ( lol). Haven't had any issues in over two years.
