Seat?

Hey guys,

I have a really perplexing question. I am looking at a seat in a wrecking yard. But when I measured the seat track it was 1/2 inch narrower than my current seat. Now this is what the seat is almost like, I think (If I remember right I think this is the same style headrest.) But It might have the squared off design. I will be out again Monday at the yard, unless I get up early and go this afternoon instead!

http://www.seatworks.com/images/1996%20Ford%20XLT%20bench%20w%20armrest.jpg

Anyway, my question is this. Will this 1/2 inch be anything to worry about. This seat does have power adjust on it, and it does have the front tabs for the little console Ford offered. That is my main reason for looking at this seat, because this truck has no cupholders!

Seat?

Chances are that the seat came out of a wrecked truck, and that the rails may have been bent or pushed in/out slightly, the 1/2 inch is nothing to worry about. Before you install in the truck, inspect the rails very carefully, make sure there is no cracks or that it is bent, if so, just unbolt the rails from the seat and use the original rails on your truck. If the rail seem ok, just bolt them in, you may have to have a little help to push the seat over for the 1/2 inch, but is should not be a problem.

hotrod, that seat is called the "cloth flight bench" it's from a late 1995, 1996 or 1997 heavyduty.

As for the track, being it's not a power seat, it should be an exact fit for your 88. I have a 89 cloth flight and a 93 and they're identical, you can fit either seat in either truck.

Seat?

Pastmaster,

The seat I'm looking at has the two switches on the front, like the one in the picture. I am going to go pick the seat up tomorrow, (I've already talked to the people at the wrecking yard, {it's pitiful when you are on a first name basis with the owner's and the people who work there!} and I let them know I am going to get it tomorow.)

Seat?

The switchs should be power lumbar support. Just out of curiosity what are they asking for that seat and is there another match (or two) out there for it. The color is perfect for my 86. Mostly I am just wanting to know the color code or name (not just red) If I can happen upon 2 of those I would put one in the front and one in the back of my 86 Crew Cab. Should bolt right into yours though Bud. Good luck

Seat?

Brad,
The seat in the picture is almost identical to the one I am looking at. The one I am going to pick up this morning, s a dakr gray on the bottom (around the front), and light gray on top. But I am getting this seat for (are you sitting down?) $40 or $50 the owner wouldn't give me a firm price the other day when I was in there. But the place that has the seat in the picture is a place called Seat Works. They have a website. he site address is: http://www.seatworks.com

Hope that helps.

Thanks Man I'll check it out. I would love too find 2 of those in that color or Red. Would match perfect. I hear you on the cup holder thing too. I have burnt myself more than once trying to hold a cup of coffee between my legs thank God for wide base cups, velcro, and flat transmission humps lol.

What's a flat transmission hump. With that 5-speed transmission in my truck, I really don't have anyplace to put anything. Especially since I have the Siren & Radio mounted in front of the seat. That will change, trust me. I have an Idea in my head right now for an overhead console!

Seat?

Thats the only good thing about my automatic. I mounted a CB in my 90 F150 to the roof. I bolted the bracket to the roof then did some measuring and slit the headliner to go on over the ears of the bracket. lookeed real good. I tainted the bracket light blue to match the interior and you could hardly tell it was there.Just a thought.

hotrod, my 93 seat is exactly the same except it has headrest's. I have the 2-cup console, which was for 2wd automatic trucks. You can get the little consule that has just one cup and a little tray. Or if your really handy, you can build a console, a friend built one, he has his cb and some other stuff in it. Looks even better!

I looked for a 40/20/40 seat for my 93 one time. Found one, but it listed for $400 from a parts house.

Seat?

Hey guys,

Thanks for the help. I'll be puting up a picture of my truck with the "new" seat in it in a couple of days. Now I have one more question, when I changed the seat out I lost all my leg room. I didn't expect this to happen as it is a 92 model seat. Should I have changed the mounting brackets out? If so I still have my old seat at the house.

Seat?

Guys,

I have the new seat in, but I have the pictures in the camera ready to go on the computer at the house. I'll get that done tomorrow afternoon. You wouldn't believe the difference a seat can make!

Hey John,
I had a set of Factory manuals from Ford for My 90. I loaned them out to a Guy and I have never seen them again. They had all the interior color codes. Other than that I am not toosure. Ford did do some nice looking interiors back then didn't they. Way ahead of their time. I just have two cloth benchs in mine but they are comfortable enough thats for sure and they are actually a good looking seat.
