I bought these seals but they only glue on, no attatchments. I can't figure out how to orient them, i.e. which side goes vertical/horizonal. here is a small cross section. Not much in the way of flat spots to glue to.
Pictures I found of these seals installed. These pictures were posted on this forum, but I don't know who gets credit for taking them.
Haha neat. Not often I have my photos quoted on this forum
The photos above are from my truck. The original upper door seals I took off where oriented the same way you see in my photos above. I also test fitted both ways (fatter edge on the outside, and on the inside), and the fatter edge on the outside created a lot of door-closing problems.
You'll like having the extra padding... makes them quite when they close. Nice tight seal. And no water leaks.
Don't be surprised if your door has a hard time closing once you install those upper seals.
I referenced my door seals on my 2014 F150 shortly after struggling to close my 1979 doors (with new seals). Right or wrong, I cut small little holes with a utility knife in all of my door seals every 12 inches or so (just like modern trucks have)... It helps let air escape from the door seals so they don't act as balloon when the door slams shut. Been on the truck for over 1,500 miles and the holes don't affect performance of the weatherstripping... but the doors sure do close nice!
