Does anyone know what the purpose of the dip in the top edge of the left and right below rear window panels
is for other than exposing part of the cab?
I guess mine could have been changed, but it was tucked behind the hat channel when I removed it. It’s a ‘50. All the pieces were there and the hardware was stock, so I think that’s how it came from the factory.
In a truck that came from the factory with the panel tucked under at the dip, there would not be a hole under the center of the window for the screw. There are lots of variations in the way the different assembly plants did things, though. Most of my trucks came from the middle of the country to the East, so a little detail like this might have been different on the West Coast.
