Front end Binding

Bought my '08 4x4 Screw used, it came with a 2" lift.
I have never had 4x4 previously but doubt that the truck should bind up in 4x4 during a tight turn in the parking lot. The truck will cease to move as I tighten the turn. I'm wondering if the truck was lifted improperly. ( I believe they used a 2" puck)

I am replacing the struts and am wondering if I should be replacing other parts at the same time to remedy the problem.
I'd have to check on my tire size, but I think they are stock.

Thoughts?

A truck will definitely bind up while turning on a dry parking lot with 4wd engaged.

You do not want to be doing that

My advice would be to download and read the manual.

Sounds like something I should be doing....I didn't think of that.

Thanks!

It’s nice having the manual on my phone because it’s easily accessible when I need it, and it’s a searchable pdf file, so it’s quick to find what you’re looking for.

I have the manuals (user, parts, repair) for all my vehicles and equipment on my phone.

Nice way to break the transfer case and other parts.

It isn't great for the drivetrain to do this but it's unlikely to break anything, and if it does those components were likely close to failure anyway.

But yes, binding is normal and an "improper lift" wouldn't affect it one way or the other.

Come out to Moab and spend some time locked front and rear on slickrock and you'll see binding.....

Lol, I live on the prairies with frozen winter flat land. For the most part the closest thing to an incline here is going up the ramp of a underground parking lot.

You never get rid of that 'binding' feel when turning a tight radius in 4WD even on loose/slippery material, but like said, you should never engage it on non-slippery material. The torque caused by one end fighting the other when the axles are locked, particularly when turning, can be a huge factor and definitely break things, like the transfer case. On loose/slippery material, the wheels can slip to relieve the torque, so that's why you never use it on dry pavement.
