05000 gvw seems like a light weight Chevy. Can also see red dots on it. Rivets possible not original. 888699 seems pretty high. Very late August 1966 build or maybe it was intended to be on a 1967 model. Colour looks more fire signal red code 5 and not Rangoon Red code J.
?Didn't all of them have the same. Every one I've recorded so far has a 5 digit GVWR with a leading 0 if is is under 10,000.
I do not recall seeing a zero in front of the gvw. I will have to look at all my doors tomorrow if the rain backs off. Gotta find my gumbies sooner than later. I also sold my roto molded kayak so I am making lots of mistakes this year for the weather.
RangerMercMan is right, as usual.
You are looking at original paint, and it is certainly not "J". (The plate is original and correct in other respects.)
I want to paint a replacement door. Should it be signal red, poppy red, or?
Eric
Ok ok. There seems to be a goose egg in front of the 5 on VIN plates that I have seen on this forum. I guess I got used to ND's decode and reading 5000 GVW. 6t6merc says I won with the paint code though so tongue 👅 out lol!
