Boy, about 60-80 miles of mountain riding and I'm tired, sore and just overall beat. I don't think I could do 500 miles wide open.

We get a handful of each to ship back. They all have repairs and such. The places they stuff fuel tanks on those things are pretty neat too.

I refuse to live in a place where a snowmobile would be a purchase consideration. Now a dirt bike, maybe.

Don't knock it till you've tried it.

It's some of the most fun you can have with your boots on.

I sure do miss mine.

If I was buying new, no doubt in my mind-

Arctic Cat Firecat F7 EFI with the Sno Pro package.

Someday.

Out of all the toys I have ever had, snowmachines are way at the top of the list. I have owned a dozen or so 4 wheelers and really like fast ones. I would have to get a raptor if I was getting one for fun. Also boats, bikes including Harleys, dirt track cars, off road racing, muscle cars. And I loved them all but I like sno-gos better.

Itchin to ride

This threads got me all fired up. Here I am laid up from back surgery, wondering how much early snow were going to get
seeing as I'm not ready to ride yet "Oh it's going to happen"
You see I spent the last week of September getting everything ready for the season.

First I cleaned the carbs on the all the sleds, both 95 Ski-Doo Safari's ( wife and daughter ) 98 Doo MXZ 583 ( young lad ) 98-99 AC ZR 700 ( Mine ) new sliders and carbides, elec face shield hook up on the MXZ. New go fast green windshield on the ZR and new rear bulbs for the lot of em ( just a thing I do every year). Full tanks of fresh fuel, stabilizer, water remover, 104 octane boost. Replaced missing studs on MXZ and ZR ( over 30 between the 2 of em "ouch") Install all unused spare belts and use old belts for spares, new plugs all around and check all wiring and adjust clutches. Last for the sleds was a full out wash and wax, rain-x windshields.

Dropped off sled wear at dry cleaners and spent one evening waxing 6 helmets ( 2 old extra lids for guest )

Then the trailer, new NTN bearings & NTN Bearing Buddy's, painted the rims, new 10 inch rubber and matching spare. Replaced all bulbs, 2 cracked lenses and double checked wiring. Serviced pivot, hitch, leaf springs and axle, new plywood deck strips and lock down bars. And 6 cans of Trembled black. Oh and can't forget the new nose cone and cool stickers.

So ya see it's going to dump mounds of snow in my neck of the woods any day now. Then by mid December when "hopefully" I'll be ready to pound the powder we'll have our Indian summer.

That's just the way it goes in my world

The only thing that has kept me partially sane here in Texas for the last two winters was that my buddys in Alaska were haveing a severe snow shortage. If I had to talk to them and hear" Man, you missed some great riding" I would be so totally bummed. But one friend had gotten himself and his wife new sleds and only rode 20 miles all winter. He is kind of a wuss though. My other good buddy is a thrasher like me and usually gets a new sled every other year. He sold all his but one and only took it out a few times last year. I have really been out of the loop for the last two years so hopefully this winter will bring on the snow and I can pack up and head back "home" for a couple weeks good riding about March or April. Zoom Zoom!!

Well so far its been dusting. I mean like tiny ice crystals that after a day make a thin white layer. This really sucks. Last year on Oct 17 I was in Paxson riding. I doubt I'll get on the mountains untill mid Dec.

Maybe the'll do Iron Man on 4 wheelers and bycycles this year.

See I told you this would happen!

Snow for tomorow less than 1 cm...... rain in the forcast for a few days after that, but I know it'll stay cold and show up as snow

Normaly first sign of snow 1cm or even less, I'd take out the old 72 Yami 338 sp (boggy wheeled beast) out for a blast........"Why" my name is Rick and I'm a sledaholic and they don't make a patch for this addiction.

I have a Polaris RMK 550 that has just 1 mile on it...I can't really recommend any one brand of sled, but can tell you that if you don't plan on going too fast get a fan cooled sled. The liquid cooled ones need fresh snow and higher speeds to avoid overheating. If you throw a carbide from your track(if so equipped) you can destroy your heat exchanger too, which isn't fun 150 miles from home.

Have fun and keep us posted. Pun intended.

I just bought a 04 Arctic Cat Sabercat 700 LX, sittin in the garage ready to run. I've been in the sport for 15 years and Arctic Cat has been my brand of choice. They have better suspensions and stronger motors. My 700 will beat just about anything out this year except the ZR 900. The Firecat/sabercat chassis is the best in the biz, I spent a lot of time researching before I bought mine. The REV does put a different spin on things but I think they are ugly. IMO Arctic Cat and Ski-Doo are the top, forget yamaha and polaris. Both companys make sleds to fit any riders needs. Go to a newstand and check out some magazines.

You can also go to hardcoresledder.com for info.
