Bought an ‘05 Ex 6.0 a few weeks ago needing head gaskets. Got that fixed at a shop ($$$!!!) and took her on our first trip. Camping in MN, about an 8 hour drive pulling a 29’ 7000lbs travel trailer. Still have a few kinks I could tell while driving (random rough start, random bucking while accelerating, etc) but other than that it was great! Wife and kids loved the space.
I will try and post info and pics of my Ex later. Just wanted to say hi and thanks. I spent a lot of time on here browsing before I took the leap with the King!
Welcome to the family! I LOVE my Excursion!! One of the best things you can have is a bluetooth adapter for the OBD2 port(you can get one off Amazon for less than $15, and both Torque Pro and Forscan lite for your phone. You can diagnose alot with both and Torque Pro monitors everything you need. The "bucking" your talking about sounds like that would be a contribution/balance code, it wont throw a check engine light. I have that going on now and am changing injectors. If you have any questions or ever need any help, let me know and send me a PM. I have owned mine since last October and have learned TONS about the 6.0!
Thanks! Been looking through your build. Looks awesome! Also, by your name I’m assuming you served so thank you for your service! I did 5 years in the Marines myself.
Good to know. I have a Livescan on mine. It was tuned pretty hard when I bought it. I had the guys that did the gaskets return it to stock. Just using it for gauges now! Also had them check the injectors when it was apart, number 8 was bad so they replaced it. I like to tinker on things (and save money...) so I am planning on doing most of the work myself as things come up. I was going to do the gaskets myself but time was a factor. I will be picking your brains in the near future! Thanks for the support!
