Selecting manual transmission

I have a 1948 F68/F3 that we will put a 302 engine in. I was going automatic but now wish to put a manual tranny in. It will be matched with a Dana 60 axle 3.73 ratio from a 1967 F250. My question to the forum is, what are the best options with respect to torque, durability and ease of installation. Thank you in advance for your advice.

What are you going to use the truck for ? If you are going to pull heavy loads it may change the answers .

If you’re just cruising you might look into a T5. That’ll give you overdrive.

Looking for 1/2 ton towing capacity 5-7000 lbs. considering beefing up M5R2 as this was on the Early 90’s 302’s but not sure strong enough?

M5R2 was on the early 90’s Ford trucks 302. Found one at the wreckers

Your choice should also take your HP into consideration . Late seventies to to nineties stock 302 's aren't likely to damage many transmissions but with 373 gears you will want an overdrive if you are planning on much highway travel .
