Key chip location on remote starter

In Feb. I bought a 01 Excursion V-10 on Ebay out of Texas. It is a wonderful truck except it only came with one key. The previous owner had a Audiovox Prestige Platinum model # APS-750A remote starter security system installed. I resently visited my local Ford dealer to have an addtional key made, but they could not make another one because I only have one key. They spent over 1 hour looking for the chip modual on the remote start alarm system but gave up. Can anyone tell what the unit might look like that the other key chip is in, or the location they might have hidden it. I called the installer, but it sounds like he is out of business.

Thanks,
XTruckin'in Michigan

for the fords there is a part that learns that code from two keys. the other owner must have had two keys. if you look under the dash you will see a small black box ( 1" by 3/4" or around that size) with two wires going to the ing. switch and two or three wires going to the alarm. if you remove the cover around the key switch you should see where the two wires from small box goes. they will end with a small ball. the ball is what the alarms uses the send the key signal. hop this will help you.

those people you took it too are pretty stupid
If they have a WDS you only need the key you have and you can program an addition key without the second one

But if they need to know where they put the chip for the remote start it has to be really close to the ignition lock
