My question is..has anybody had a problem with the particulate filter plugging up and completely stopping the vehicle. I have a 2017 F350 Platinum dually 6.7 with 38,000. On a recent trip I was left stranded in Flagstaff AZ and had to be towed to the Ford dealership there. They said the problem was my particulate filter, i.e. exhaust system had plugged up completely and this had also blown the turbo. After a timely repair I drove the vehicle from Flagstaff to Tucumcari, NM pulling a flatbed trailer with another pickup in tow. Just outside of Tucumcari I received a warning on instrument panel that said particulate exhaust filter full, drive to clean. Within 10 miles I was on the side of the road with 0 power. Def tank was full, diesel tank full, aux diesel tank full. Any idea why this would happen within 500 miles?
I did not have this exact series of events, but I did have a failure of my DPF at around 40k. On and off for 5000 miles I received a P2002 code. First time cel appeared dealer said AOK. Second time dealer noted excessive soot in the tail pipes and said DPF failed the tests.
The entire DPF was replaced under warranty. Everything has been fine for another 8500 miles - but then everything was fine for the first 40k - normal DEF usage, normal performance. I do pay attention to the tail pipes now and they are essentially soot-free.

Naw make them fix it under warranty. Sounds like the dealer missed something. I would make them replace as much as possible something is wrong and screwed up the dpf.
The OP said driving 500 miles towing so it’s definitely not the owner’s fault.

yea agreed but id be so mad in the moment i'd find the nearest diesel shop and fix it for real
Sounds like the truck is not entering a DPF regen mode. Once may have been a fluke but having the DPF fill up in 500 miles and not enter regen sounds like a problem with the computer, not the actual DPF. Did the dealer replace turbo and DPF?
I would ask the dealer if they are able to manually put the truck into regen, can they add the DPF % screen on the dash?
Good luck
My 2017 F250 6.7 just gave me this same message comin back from Greer AZ to PHX. Told me the exhaust filter was full and requires service. Limped it home towing my 5th wheel. Climbing the hills I was stuck in 2nd & 3rd gear and ony getting about 12 pounds of boost when usually I'm around 30-37 pounds of boost. Called the dealership and long story short....they need to do a diagnostic test on it. If I have to replace the DPF it is upwards of $6k to replace. Just has never done a REGEN yet. Exhaust tips are clean and have no soot build up.
Oil & Filter change every 5k miles. Water separator filter and fuel filter changed every 6 months
Truck is going in on Monday for a full powertrain service & transfer case, new ball joints, radiator flush, shocks and belt. So if I have to replace the DPF on top of the service I have scheduled I'm looking at upwards of 8k.
Think its time for me to switch to a GM. New truck is in my very new future.
2017 6.7ltr super crew long-bed 4x4 (bought brand new in October 2016 with 2.1 miles on it).
