Trans not shift to O/D
Ihave a 91' Explorer and it shifts through 1,2,3 but it dont shift to O/D, also the speedometer dont work. I have called numerous places but all htey want to do is take my money and rebuild it, so I want to explore all exceptions before I thiink about rebuilding it.

Sure, it could be a stuck 3-4 solenoid but what are the chances. First step is to drop the pan and see if you can find any metal in it. You might consider rebuilding the OD section yourself. These are very easy to work on. Lets face it, a 91 isn't worth putting a new set of tires on.
A manual is only $16 at www.bulkpart.com and a planetary is about $50 or you took out the drum and star washer for a little more. I've had both of these go on mine when I've lost the OD..
