I decided it was time for a new avatar. The recent picture of the truck and camper taken earlier this year at a lovely state park campground in Georgia is a current and realistic representation of our truck and its prime purpose, which is haulin’ our Lance 855s slide-in camper to state parks, national parks, and national monuments, and to visit friends and family.
And trips to Lowe’s.
The old avatar was a picture of the gearshift in our old BMW 530ix wagon, which had a six-speed manual transmission. The emotional link between that configuration and our truck’s six-speed AT has faded away.
It’s a great site: fairly level, quite spacious, some shade, water and electricity hookups, and not too far from the restrooms! Here’s the original full picture:
Just looking at the full size picture it looks like the Georgia campgrounds we have stayed in. Nice parks. Better maintained than most of our here in Tennessee.
We’ve visited several GA state parks in the past couple of years: Laura Walker (1x), Magnolia Spring (2x), Mistletoe (1x), and Tugaloo (2x). We enjoyed them all, although Tugaloo (on Lake Hartwell) can get a bit crowded for our tastes.
However, the GA SP website works well — it facilitates site-specific reservations — and the parks offer a senior discount, even to out-of-staters!
And you never know what might happen to cruise on by...
We’ve also visited Natchez Trace SP in TN a couple of times while traveling to/from the West. Nice park!
