I have a small problem with my truck that has been occurring since I bought her in January of 2019. My passenger side reverse light will only work intermittently. It will work for a few weeks, then be out for another few weeks before working again. This is only occurring on my passenger side, my drivers side is fine. I replaced my reverse bulbs yesterday, and the problem is still occurring. Does anyone have a similar problem, know what could be causing it, or how to fix it? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Has to be a bulb, socket, or wiring issue right at the rear of the truck. The two reversing lamps are spliced together back there so that they should work in parallel. Since you already replaced the bulb, that leaves the other two items for you to troubleshoot.
The bulbs plug into a socket that itself plugs into the actual wired socket. That is how they were on my 2006 F350 at least. Those bulb sockets were corroded on my truck, so the reverse lights were out. Replaced the sockets and everything worked fine.
It's more likely a bad bulb socket than a splice. Also the reverse light ground is the same ground for the brake, tail, and turn signal lights, so you're losing it on the +12v side.
