OK, want to know what everyone else thinks, is there a problem, or just the way it is. My steering seems to be loose when moving at a highway pace. Truck specs:
2019 XLT 4x4 with snow plow package
Stock height
Bilstein 5100's on all 4 corners
PMF suspension Dual stabilizer with Bilstein 5100's
Stock 18" wheels, 295/70/18 tires
Balance is spot on, alignment is spot on. It is just a floaty/loose steering feeling. Would like it a little stiffer when at higher speed....
Too high of tire pressure makes mine feel "floaty".
that was my next thing to do, they are hot now, was going to wait until tomorrow morning. they are right now around 55 all around, was planning on dropping to 50.. I have the forscan set to 50 already to keep the light from coming on.
I know you said alignment was spot on but what is the caster? The factory specs need more castor as many have found which corrects the floating overly sensitive steering.
Imo this what you find in numerous posts as "wandering".
I was also thinking similar to the above post. Alignment has a spec range, that range can be wide. So, what is spot on to you?
have not had it checked, only have 2k miles on it. I am just going by tracking down a highway and it stays straight... tried to search, but did not use the term wandering since it is not really doing that. will be trying the lower air, then will have the alignment checked and see what they say...

Ok, so not wandering. So what do you mean by floaty or light steering? That it takes very little effort to steer on the highway?

Yes. Previous f250 (2015 6.7) and 2016 Ram 2500 (gas) did not have this issue. Also used to driving my charger and it does not do it either, but realize that is a different beast.

Get the alignment checked, post the results and you'll likely get better suggestions. Otherwise it's just a shot in the dark.

I have 1700 miles on my 2020 F350 SRW and just installed the 1 degree Carli caster bushings. I also was not completely satisfied with the highway feel after installing the dual steering stabilizer and Fox shocks all around. The bushings were about $75 and the install was straightforward. They can easily be removed and the OEM bushings installed if you decide to revert to stock. The new Carli bushings seem to help and I’ll have the alignment checked to be sure as well.

Is the shim better than the alignment shop just increasing what is currently there. Maybe that is a dumb question, but I am ignorant when it comes to this stuff.. I am far from a mechanic...

They can't change castor without adding the shims. You need to get it measured to see where you're at then order accordingly.

Same here. What tires do you have, mine are Goodyear.
